HINJ Member
Companies Donate $11.1 Million for Hurricane Sandy Relief
Responding to the needs of people and
communities throughout New Jersey and the region impacted by
Hurricane Sandy, member companies of the HealthCare
Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) have donated, to date,
approximately $11.1 million in cash contributions and
product donations. This figure does not include employee
contributions or company matching-gift programs.
Commenting on
HINJ member companies’ charitable
giving and community outreach since
the devastating October 29
superstorm, HINJ President and Chief
Executive Officer Dean J. Paranicas
said, “The New Jersey life sciences
community’s response in support of
relief and recovery efforts for
those so harshly impacted by
Hurricane Sandy has been swift,
decisive and comprehensive.”
HINJ member
companies have made contributions to
a large number of organizations,
including the American Red Cross,
AmeriCares, Direct Relief
International, Feeding America, the
Salvation Army, Save the Children,
the United Way, and the Hurricane
Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.
“This rapid
infusion of financial and
health-care assistance reflects a
longstanding industry tradition of
speedily responding to natural
disaster — be it around the world or
here at home — to improve the lives
of those affected,” Paranicas
continued. “Through a broad range
of initiatives, HINJ member
companies and their employees
continue to demonstrate their
commitment to their communities and
human health at a time of tremendous
need.” |
